Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know when getting tattooed or pierced by us.

How do I book an appointment with your artists?

For all appointment requests, please use our “Tattoo Order Form” form or “Piercing Order Form” form. This will request all the information we need from you to book your appointment.

How much does a tattoo cost?

The price of a tattoo depends on several factors, such as the design, size, placement on the body, and whether it is in color or black and white. Tattoos with a lot of detail take longer to complete and will therefore also cost more. The placement can also affect the time required – for example, areas like the ribs may take longer because the skin is stretched more during the process.

A smaller tattoo is not necessarily cheaper. A small tattoo with a lot of detail can take just as long as a larger tattoo with a simpler design.

For larger projects such as half sleeves, sleeves, leg sleeves or larger custom designs, the tattoo is usually done over multiple tattoo sessions. A single tattoo session or day session therefore does not necessarily mean that the entire tattoo will be completed in one appointment.

Approximate number of tattoo sessions for larger projects:

Half sleeve: 2–4 “tattoo – sessions”

Full sleeve: 4–8+ “tattoo – sessions”

Leg sleeve: 6–10+ “tattoo – sessions”

Back: 4–12+ “tattoo – sessions”

Each tattoo session is a separate agreement and is therefore invoiced separately. This means that if the tattoo is not completed in one session, the next session will be priced as a new tattoo session. This applies to all larger tattoos and is standard practice in the industry.

Since larger tattoos are developed gradually and sometimes adjusted along the way, it can be difficult to give an exact total price up front. However, we will always give a rough estimate of the number of tattoo sessions and expected price level before we start the project.

For a more accurate price estimate, please submit a booking request with reference photos, desired location, and approximate size.

What is the minimum price?

Tattoo artist charges NOK 2,000/200 euros/200 usd per hour.

Anko charges 3,200 nok/320 euros/320 usd per hour.

How can I get an estimated tattoo price?

You can get an estimated price by submitting a “booking” form and providing as much and as accurate information as you can about what you want to get.

How do I pay?

We accept cash, most debit cards, vipps, paypal.

What happens if I don't show up on time?

If you do not show up at the agreed time, you will be billed 1000,- per scheduled hour. We have a 48-hour cancellation deadline.

If you need to change or cancel your appointment, you must call/email the studio at least 48 hours in advance. This also applies to changes in design.

How much does a consultation cost?

A 30 min consultation is free with our artists.

If you would like one of our artists to design something unique for you after the consultation, you must leave a deposit and book an appointment.

How should I prepare before the appointment?

A good breakfast is highly recommended, and too much alcohol the night before is not a good idea, as this can thin the blood.

Please note that we will not tattoo anyone who is under the influence of drink or drugs.

We will shave the tattoo area for you, please do not do this yourself.

We politely ask that friends/partners are limited to one only during your session.

I have an infection after my tattoo, what should I do?

Send a picture to [email protected] with your name and the date you got the tattoo. If we can’t give you a solution via email, we may ask you to come by the studio.

If we cannot help you further, we would recommend that you seek a pharmacy and follow their recommendations. If you have direct pain, always consult a doctor.

Does it hurt?

Tattoos are better than love,
Hurt just as much, but last a lifetime.

Can I get a tattoo when I'm sick?

Getting a tattoo when your immune system is not 100% is not a good idea. You need all your strength to heal the tattoo, which your body won’t be able to do if it’s already fighting viruses and bacteria.

Not to mention the fact that it’s not a good idea to bring the disease into the studio and risk transmitting the bacteria to others, especially your tattoo artist.

Call and reschedule.

Do you do cover-ups?

Yes, we do cover-up tattoos. We have extensive experience in covering up old or unwanted tattoos and finding creative solutions that work well with the existing design.

Cover-ups often require a slightly larger or darker design to properly cover the old tattoo, which is why each project is considered individually.

Please send us a request via the Order Form with a clear picture of your existing tattoo, desired motif and approximate size. We can then assess the options and find the best solution for you.

Can I exercise with a new tattoo?

Exercise is fine, as long as the area is not bruised. Contact sports, such as rugby, are usually not recommended until fully healed, due to the risk of scabbing. Swimming is not recommended for at least 3 weeks.

After exercise, wash the area with warm water and PH-balanced soap.

How do I take care of my new tattoo or piercing? (aftercare)

Proper aftercare is very important for both tattoos and piercings to ensure good healing and the best possible results.

We have created a dedicated page with detailed instructions for aftercare of both tattoos and piercings. There you will find information on how to clean the area, what to avoid during the healing period, and how to best care for your work.

You can find complete aftercare instructions here: aftercare

Where can I find prices for piercings?

You can find our piercing prices when you click on our “Piercing Gallery and Prices

How old do I have to be?

To get a tattoo, you must be 18 years old. Even with parental consent, we do not tattoo anyone under the age of 18.

Age limits for piercing:

We require identification from everyone who is going to get a piercing, even if accompanied by a guardian/parent. Guardian/parent must also show identification.

These are our age limits:

6 years (accompanied by parent) – earlobe
15 years (accompanied by parent) – ear, nose, eyebrow and navel
16 years – tongue and lip
18 years – cheek, bridge, surface, nipple, genital, microdermal

Can I bring a friend?

We are artists who take our time and focus a lot on small details in our work. When there is a lot going on around us, we lose concentration.

You can just bring a friend/partner/family to keep you company.

Do you have a long waiting list?

We usually have short wait times, and with our large team of artists we can almost always find a time that works for you. Whether you want a smaller walk-in tattoo, or are planning a larger, more customized project, we do our best to accommodate.

We welcome both local customers and visitors/tourists, and can often offer appointments at short notice.

Please send a request through the order form and we will find a solution that suits you.

Do I have to pay a deposit?

Depending on the size of the project, a deposit of close to 1/3 of the price must be paid.

Piercing appointments do not require a deposit.

Can I shower afterwards?

You can take a quick shower the same evening as the tattoo.

Remember that your new tattoo is a wound on your body, treat it accordingly!

What brand of ink do you use? Are they vegan friendly?

We only use professional tattoo inks from reputable brands such as Dynamic, Panthera, World Famous and Solid Ink. All the inks we use are vegan and EU REACH approved, which means they meet the current European safety requirements for tattoo inks.

Can you make a design for me?

We can create a design to your liking even if you haven’t seen a picture anywhere and you only have it in your imagination.

We will only design after a booked appointment and only when a deposit has been paid.

Some parts of the tattoo have faded, what should I do?

Take a picture and send it to [email protected], and we will advise you further on what to do.

If the fading is minimal and is the artist’s fault, there will be a free retouch (within one month of the day you got the tattoo).

If the fading is caused by poor aftercare from the client or from an accident it will be a paid retouch.

Can I use numbing cream?

We do not recommend using numbing cream. This can make the skin more difficult to tattoo and can sometimes affect how it heals.

A greater level of pain is often experienced once the effects of the cream have worn off.

Are there any areas/tattoos you refuse to do?

We are not fans of finger tattoos as they don’t heal how they should.

We do not tattoo racist/homophobic tattoos.

Will my tattoo change if I gain or lose weight?

Your tattoo will never expand or shrink at the same rate as your skin, it will not distort in shape.

Is it safe to swim/sunbathe with a new tattoo?

We recommend at least 3 weeks before exposing a fresh tattoo to the sun/sea/swimming. This is due to the risk of poor healing and infection.

It’s always best to wait until after a vacation before getting a new tattoo.

Can I get a tattoo with Anko at a tattoo convention?

If you would like to get a tattoo of Anko at a specific convention/festival that you know Anko is attending, or even in another country/city, please email [email protected] and we can arrange it.
